Hawke's Bay wine tours, private and hosted.

Our hosted tours are priced per person in New Zealand dollars, GST included, and the per-person rate falls as the group grows. The four hour Great Wine Capital Discovery runs from $225 per person for a party of seven up to $540 per person for two. The five hour Signature runs from $445 to $795. The seven hour Reserve, which runs 10:00 to 17:00 Tuesday to Saturday, is $780 to $1,150 per person. The six hour Artisan Producers Tour runs from $695 to $995.

Four hours for the Great Wine Capital Discovery and five hours for the Signature. The Reserve is seven hours and runs 10:00 to 17:00 New Zealand time, Tuesday to Saturday. The Artisan Producers Tour is six hours and runs 10:00 to 16:00 New Zealand time, seven days a week. Each begins and ends at your own accommodation.

Tours run by arrangement rather than to a fixed timetable. Tell us the start time that suits your day and we build the tour around it. We confirm your pickup time in New Zealand time when we confirm the booking. Winery and producer opening hours set the practical window, and we will tell you at the time of booking what works best for the tour you have chosen. Two tours are the exception. The Great Wine Capital Reserve runs to a set schedule from 10:00 to 17:00, Tuesday to Saturday, and the Artisan Producers Tour runs to a set schedule from 10:00 to 16:00, seven days a week.

Seven days a week, year round. The only day we do not operate is Christmas Day. The Discovery and the Signature run by arrangement. The Reserve runs 10:00 to 17:00, Tuesday to Saturday, and the Artisan Producers Tour runs 10:00 to 16:00 on three itineraries, Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday, at the same price. Individual wineries, restaurants and producers set their own hours and holiday closures, so we confirm every stop on your itinerary at the time of booking and substitute where a venue is closed.

The Signature visits Craggy Range, Te Mata Estate and Smith & Sheth, where the tasting is the Lieux-Dits flight. The Reserve visits Church Road, Craggy Range and Smith & Sheth, closing with the same Lieux-Dits flight. The Discovery includes a Discovery Tasting at Te Mata Estate. Hawke's Bay wineries sit ten to twenty minutes apart, which is why a five hour day here covers three estates comfortably.

On two of the four tours. The Reserve includes a set menu lunch at Craggy Range Winery, and the Artisan Producers Tour includes an owner-hosted platter lunch at Te Mata Figs, with high tea at Birdwoods later in the day as a separate sitting. The five hour Signature pairs its tastings with light platters, cheeses and charcuterie at Craggy Range and cheeses with the Smith & Sheth Lieux-Dits flight, but does not include a full lunch. For a full premium lunch, upgrade to the Reserve. The four hour Discovery does not include food. Beverages and wine pairing are not included on any tour.

Yes. Every tour collects you from and returns you to your accommodation anywhere in Napier, Hastings, Havelock North or Cape Kidnappers, at no extra charge.

Minimum two guests. We publish per-person pricing for parties of two through seven. Groups of eight or more, and multi-vehicle programmes, are arranged by quotation.

Yes. Infants aged 0 to 4 travel free of charge, and children aged 5 to 12 receive 50 percent off the per-person touring rate. Tell us their ages when you book so we fit the correct child restraints.

Yes. We run private shore excursions timed to your ship's all-aboard time, stated in New Zealand time. One thing changes: on Napier cruise ship days the private tasting at Arataki Honey on the Artisan Producers Tour is replaced by a tasting of ten honeys in the public tasting area, and we add a stop at Bellatino's Food Lovers Market in Havelock North.

Yes, and we would be delighted to. Send it with your enquiry or paste it into the form. We check every stop against real opening hours, tasting times and drive times, make every winery, producer and restaurant reservation on your behalf, and return a priced, confirmed day by email in New Zealand time. A bespoke day is private hire with a host, from $240 NZD per hour per vehicle with a two hour minimum, GST included, and venue costs pass through at cost with no margin added. Our four published tours run exactly as published.

Three tastings sit comfortably in five hours, because Hawke's Bay wineries are ten to twenty minutes apart. Our five hour Signature visits three wineries. Add a two and a half hour lunch and a full day still holds three, which is how our seven hour Reserve runs.

For the leading estates, yes. Craggy Range runs its tastings at set times, and the Signature Table lunch takes reservations. Several of the producers we visit, including the private honey tasting at Arataki Honey, open only by arrangement. When you book with us, we make and hold every reservation for you.

We substitute an equivalent award-winning estate and tell you before the day. Black Barn replaces Craggy Range, Mission Estate replaces Church Road, and Te Mata Estate or Black Barn replaces Smith & Sheth, choosing one not already on your route. We confirm every stop on your itinerary at the time of booking.

One named host stays with you for the whole day, and we tell you who when we confirm your booking. Our hosts include our founder Duncan Darroch, a trained winemaker, along with Heather Clinton, Niki Willis, Philip Shambrook, Louise Shambrook, Leo Olsen, Ginny Williams, Bronnie Coory and Trevor Morrison. Every host is Police vetted, passes driver safety testing and holds a comprehensive first aid certificate.

Yes. Our three day plan pairs a private arrival transfer and the Discovery on day one, the Reserve on day two, and the Artisan Producers Tour and your departure transfer on day three. For two guests staying in Havelock North it totals $6,010 NZD, GST included. We build longer programmes to order.

Tell us what you need when you enquire and we will tell you plainly what we can do. We are happy to assist guests with limited mobility, and a folding wheelchair or walking frame travels with you. Our vehicles are not certified Total Mobility vehicles, so we cannot carry a passenger who remains seated in a wheelchair.

For December and January, as early as you can, because those dates book out months ahead and our vehicle numbers are limited. For the rest of the year, two to four weeks is usually comfortable. If your dates are close, ask anyway.
